Little Birch is my favorite ruined church in Essex. Ruined in the 18th century, it was abandoned when the parishes of Little Birch and Great Birch were united. The medieval church in Great Birch was itself replaced by Teulon's St Peter in 1849-50 - itself now under threat of demolition since being made redundant in 1990. St Mary, the ruined church, may outlive all others in the parish.
